Advancing World Class Prospect in Prolific Gold Fields of Colombia
Tao Minerals is one of the first
junior exploration companies to advance exploration programs in Colombia. Driven by historically high gold prices, as well as a new era of political and economic stability in Colombia, this pioneering Company is exploring a region where grades up to 100 grams per tonne gold have been achieved by local artisan miners.
For centuries, countries of Central and South America have taken center stage in the world spotlight for their ubiquitous world class gold and precious metals discoveries. It is well documented however, that Colombia, due in large part to years of political instability and restrictive mining laws, has lagged far behind its Latin American counterparts in the development of its natural resources. Situated within the heart of several prolific mineralized systems that extend from Panama through to major producing regions of Peru, Bolivia, Argentina, Venezuela, Colombia has been largely under explored.
Long known for its vast untapped and underdeveloped mineral wealth, only recently has Colombia become a new hotbed for foreign investment and mining and exploration activity. Sweeping political reforms, including a new and improved mining code, have opened up vast regions of prospective land to foreign exploration. Since introducing its reforms, the mining sector's contribution to Columbia's GDP grew 7 per cent between 2003-2004 while the country's economy grew 3.5 per cent. Foreign investment in mining reached $1.25-billion in the same period, and mining exports increased 24 per cent to $3.1-billion, according to an article published recently in the Toronto Globe & Mail.
Tao Minerals Ltd. currently owns the Golondrina property in Colombia and the Whale Mine property in Nevada, USA.
